Halloween always reminds me of death (and smashed balls)...

I don't remember exactly what day he was taken off life-support. But I do remember that we said "Goodbye" to him 30 years ago today.

He was 3 weeks away from his 49th birthday when he had the accident. He was loud, crude, and obnoxious (I like to think I get it from him). He could also be as sweet as sugar and the nicest man you'd ever met.

He was my favorite uncle.

Have you ever known someone who's death affected you so much that you never forget it? Needless to say, Halloween lost it's charm that day. And I remember it like it was yesterday.

The only consolation I have is that he saved the lives of 4 people and someone else's eyesight by donating his organs.

The one good memory I have of that day is getting to smash a jerk's...junk. What can I say? He was pissing me off. Even the brothers said he deserved it.

Btw, I did it again the next year because he said, "I bet you can't do it again."

Some people never learn...and my uncle would've said, "That's my girl!"

Hmm, suddenly I'm feeling better! *snicker*

'Tis the season...

...for scary movies. Which most, I think, are stupid.

The first scary movie I saw was It's Alive...I was 10 y.o. and it was baaaad (could be the reason I don't have kids, lol!). The next scary movie I saw was Jaws, a year later. I didn't turn my back to the deep end of our pool for at least a year.

I have seen several other scary movies since (Amityville Horror, Audrey Rose, Children of the Corn) only because the brothers had to drag me along with them. The one movie I willingly saw was Silence of the Lambs, which was pretty good. Psychological thrillers are more my style than 'slasher' movies, I guess.

I get that people enjoy the feeling of being scared in the safety of a theater or their own home but, let's be honest, if you were witness to a (insert gruesome scenario) you'd shit in your pants.

And don't tell me that you wouldn't...

I hate October...

Exactly 2 years ago today, I took an ambulance ride to hell...I mean the hospital. Let's just say it'll be a cold day in hell before I go to THAT place again. Just because it's the closest hospital doesn't mean it's the BEST hospital. Live and learn.

Anywho, it's been a medically stressful 2 years. And the last 10 days didn't help. I had pain in my side and I thought, "Crap, not again!" thinking it was the same thing that put me in the hospital. But thankfully, I was wrong. Instead, I had 2 bacterial infections, which meant taking antibiotics.

The thing is, I have a horrible gag reflex (shut up) and the thought of taking pills scares the crap out of me. I was prescribed 2 different meds and was told I could crunch them into apple sauce, etc. Well, I hate apple sauce. So I chose pudding. It wasn't good. Then I remembered that I had:

Success! Well, I have to cut them in half, but still. And I only have 2 more pills to go. Yay!

My temp at it's highest was 104.5 (I thought the digital thermometer was broken) and, of course, I didn't feel like eating.

Mom: You have to eat.
Me: Why?
Mom: I don't know.

It's not like I'll starve. BELIEVE me.

And, yes, I'm feeling better. : )

People say he was such a nice guy...

Then he killed 8 people and critically wounded a 9th. Over, apparently, child custody issues.

Here's the story if you haven't heard about it...

Salon shooting

Just goes to show that you never REALLY know a person.

I'm not being sarcastic. It's sad but unfortunately, sometimes, true.

I'm not feeling well so I can't promise when I'll be back. I just wanted to get this off my chest.

Officer Barbrady, is that you?...

While stopped at a red light one day last week, I suddenly saw a black sports car speed around a vehicle in the right lane and run the light.

Seconds later, as the light turned green, a cop car whizzed by us. I thought 'Good, the guy's gonna get caught'. But noooooo...the cop went on his merry way.

Apparently, he didn't see the 'red light runner'.

I hate when that happens...

Like the time I saw a vehicle, driven by an old man, head down the main drag southbound in the northbound lanes. He finally turned onto a side street and within 2 blocks I saw a cop coming north. Grr!

To be honest, I did once run a red light while looking for an address. Fortunately, it was after midnight and no one was on the road.

But I wouldn't have the balls (for one thing, I'm a girl) to run a red light on purpose.

It's pretty much a given, though, that they're not going to get caught. Sometimes life screws with you like that. I just hope I'm not in the crosswalk.

What kind of idiots have you seen on the road?

Friday, October 7

I listened to some awesome Classic Rock live and in person.

I watched an old man bop to the music as if he was in dire need of anti-seizure medication.

I ate chocolate-covered cheesecake...and didn't give a damn that it was probably a million calories. Hey, at least I stayed away from the deep-fried Twinkies.

I was trying to figure out a way to get out of a nasty Dr. appt. when they called me to postpone it.

Tonight, I get to hang out with some high school peeps that I haven't seen in almost 30 years.

Bonus: I woke up coughing up a lung a few nights ago. The next morning, I asked the other occupant of the house if she heard me. She said "No" and I wondered how that was possible. Of course, there were 2 closed doors and a whole house between us...but still.

And how was your week?

Wednesday, October 5

Six random things I love right now...

1. Rain - I love how the air smells, watching it fall, and drinking hot chocolate or tea because I hate being cold.

2. Cancelled Dr. appts. - normally it irritates me when an appointment gets postponed but I'm not looking forward to this one so it's all good (for the next 3 weeks).

3. Big Bang Theory - LOVING this show! So much that I have an even bigger crush on Leonard this season. Just call me 'cougar'.

4. Nutella = love. Add Cool Whip and strawberries and you have yourself a par-tay!

5. My guy - he was supposed to visit 2 weeks ago but life got in the way. He'll be here this weekend and...let's just say we're both looking forward to it. ; )

6. Earth, Wind & Fire - hadn't heard this one in years...

What things do you love right now?

Monday, October 3

I wonder...

Why I'm always so paranoid about what I'm about to do, only to have a great time while doing it.

Why assholes have to take up two handicap spots by parking diagonally.

If chocolate-coated cheesecake is fat-free.

How a guy can wear his pants around his knees in public without worrying about people like me staring at him because I'm at butt level.

If anyone notices my snicker whenever I here the lyrics 'I really love your peaches, want to shake your tree'.

Why I was staring at a famous person's crotch when I was supposed to be listening to him sing.

If chocolate cake is considered a healthy late-night snack.

Why I'm so thirsty.

When I'll go to bed.

If I'm rambling.
